Adaptive Rec at Wright State: Inclusive Sports & Activities Every Wednesday

Wright State University’s Adaptive Recreation (Adaptive Rec) program provides an inclusive environment where students of all abilities can participate in a variety of recreational activities. Designed to promote accessibility and physical activity, Adaptive Rec welcomes everyone, regardless of experience or skill level.

  • Time: 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM

Activities Offered

Each week, participants can engage in a variety of adaptive sports and recreational activities, including:

  • Power Soccer – A dynamic wheelchair-based soccer game using power chairs and an oversized ball.

  • Bocce Ball – A strategic and inclusive precision sport suitable for all skill levels.

  • Hiking – Accessible trail walks that encourage outdoor exploration.

  • Pickleball – A modified version of tennis that is easy to learn and play.

  • Obstacle Courses – Fun and engaging challenges that test agility and coordination.

  • Hockey – Adapted versions of hockey that ensure inclusivity for all participants.

  • Sitting Volleyball – A fast-paced version of volleyball played on a lower net, allowing participants to stay seated while playing.

  • And More! – Each session offers different activities, providing a variety of experiences.

How to Participate

Students interested in Adaptive Rec can attend the sessions at the Student Union Gym every Wednesday from 4:30-6 PM. No prior experience or registration is required. Those with questions or in need of accommodations are encouraged to reach out for additional information.
